PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 25TH May 2009 - 27 Audley Avenue, Tonbridge, Kent TN9 1XF - www.kentgreenparty.org 0845 257 4236 – 01732 355185 – Mobile: 079444 71083
GREEN CANDIDATE SPEAKS AGAINST RACISM IN CHATHAM
Dr Hazel Dawe, Chair of Kent Green Party and a European Candidate in the 4th June elections, spoke to the Love Music, Hate Racism music festival held at the Command public house in Chatham. She said:

“Shakespeare said, ‘If Music be the food of love, play on.’ Music is about love, about cooperation and living together in peace. This is what we are celebrating here today. There are parties standing in the European Elections that are fanatically anti-immigrant. They want to stop immigration altogether. But what would happen to the five and half million UK citizens who live abroad if this was done? Would they be forced to return to the UK? We are all immigrants – Angle and Saxons came to these islands. The Normans came with William the Conqueror. Flemish Weavers came fleeing persecution. And many more have arrived here subsequently. They have all enriched our lives and our society adding to the diversity of life in this country.

“It is important for everyone who is opposed to racism to actively vote in this election. The more votes for non racist parties the less likely it is that racist parties will be elected.”(1)
