A coalition of groups will be picketing against Incinerator development at the offices of Viridor in Kent on Friday 1st March, 11.00am at 42 Kings Hill Ave, Kings Hill, West Malling, ME19 4AJ. Steve Dawe, Press Officer of Kent Green Party, explains:
"Kent Green Party, the Sutton & Croydon Green Party and the Stop the South London Incinerator Campaign are opposed to all waste incineration, and want to see waste reduction, re-use, recycling, composting and other measures to create a zero-waste society. Viridor are planning to build a large waste incinerator in Sutton, and our groups are campaigning to stop them.
"The general public are welcome to come along and picket with us outside Viridor's offices in West Malling, Kent, on Friday 1st March at 11:00am(1): 42 Kings Hill Ave, Kings Hill, West Malling, ME19 4AJ.
"All incinerators generate thousands of journeys by heavy goods vehicles each year, an utterly wasteful activity caused by the failure to re-use and recycle efficiently in this country. Putting an end to incinerators and landfill will create more jobs in re-use and recycling throughout the country, but  as usual  the Coalition Government is failing to provide the necessary regulations or leadership."
