Kent Green Party supports the recommendations of the 'Get Britain Cycling' report(1). Steve Dawe explains:
"The Get Britain Cycling report of the All Party Cycling Group in
Parliament offers many important recommendations of relevance to Kent.
Health, education, sport and business all benefit from increasing levels
of cycling but investment is needed to reduce ill-health and obesity.
This will, of course, help to live healthier lives requiring less medical
attention for more of their life span. The Report recommends more 20 mph
limits; increasing cycling from 2% of all journeys in 2011 to 10% by
2025; improved access and availability to training to enhance cycling skills.
"Kent Green Party supports extending cycle routes to help this process,
creating real cycling networks throughout the County. It should also be
noted that carbon dioxide in our atmosphere has now reached 400 parts per
million, the highest level for over 3 million years. This makes it
imperative that greater efforts must be made to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions or radical increases in temperature and climate instability
will make life in Kent far more difficult than we have ever experienced.
"Kent Green Party also urges to public to sign the epetition calling for
the recommendations of the Get Britain Cycling report to be implemented.
